Catalogue parties are often seen as the easy ones, the ones where you dont have to do much as a consultant. Wrong! That is not true, these parties depend on you just as much as the others, sometimes more. You must have everything ready because you wont be there to add bits t it or take stuff out of your bag etc.
So what does it involve? Well that's the simple bit, you give the pack to the hostess who then has the party and collects the orders. But, you must make sure the hostess is VERY well coached, they must invite people individually, mass emails and texts will not cut it. They have to be enthusiastic and create the right atmosphere. They need to know the product and genuinely like the product. They need to be able to take the orders correctly and be aware of special offers such as buy one get one free and what the sisters style is. They will also need to be coached in the process of booking parties. Be at the other end of the phone if they need you.
This is what I put in the packs -
- Samples (get an idea of how many people are expected)
- Nail polish (only 1 or 2 complimentary colours)
- Alcohol pads
- Mini heater (This is optional, a hair dryer will be fine)
- Orange sticks
- Nail files
- Application instructions
- Tips and tricks page
- Website address of an application video
- Catalogues
- Order forms
- Hostess gift
Meeting the hostess for coffee before the party to go through everything will make all the difference, they can ask you questions and you can ensure they know what's going on.
Catalogue parties can be held anywhere, they can be in people homes, at work during lunch breaks, at social clubs or even in the playground!
So there you go! Catalogue parties! Have you ever done one? were you successful?

Party Types (Home)
Yo! Yo! Yo!
So today we are discussing home parties, this is the one I think most people are familiar with. As with the facebook invites, individual is the way forward, make it personal, show your host that if they care their friends will respond.
I dont have event pages for home parties, but some people do, I prefer to keep them for facebook parties. You will need to meet up with your host (why not treat them to a cheeky coffee? by the way, what is a cheeky coffee? is it like a cheeky nandos but without the chicken?!) You can explain how the party is going to work, what their job is and what rewards you can earn for them. A very wise woman (Litia) said to me that they need to take the lead on what they want to get our of it. She is right, that breeds enthusiasm if you get them talking about their own shopping list. Maybe make a wish list with them? Encourage them to get outside orders, maybe offer an incentive to do so, for example, get 3 outside orders and receive a pedi pack from me.
Keep in touch with your host, support them when necessary but dont be a pest, dont nag them and dont just call in because you are 'popping by' (insert rolled eye picture here, cos I hate when people bug me!!)
MAKE SURE YOU ARE PREPARED!! I cannot say this enough, make sure you have everything you need, dont turn up without samples or something! If the party is themed are you all set for that kind of evening? Do your game prizes reflect the theme? Speaking of themes, here is a pic of the flyer I made to help people decide on themes if they wanted them.
Its not the best picture but you get the idea! :) I will bring wine for the host and wine as a prize for wine and wraps nights, I bring a mini bridal survival pack for the bride on bridal parties and I usually have party bags for pirates and fairies parties. Going that little extra mile will help everyone to enjoy themselves and warm to you. People have to buy into you as well as the product. I had a lady recently say she felt I 'wasn't quite right' to run a party for her and she preferred 'someone, less, you know?' Less what? Less shaky? Less dribbly? Less excitable? But I decided that I didn't want to throw a party for someone that had an obvious dislike to my disabilities, all I can say is look out lady, one day I'm going to dribble in your shoe!!
Moving on, have catalogues ready with order forms in them and dont forget to do a full service check out, this is what gets you the party bookings! :)
When laying out your samples, please please be careful, people think that because they are free they can take as many as they want and this just simply isn't true. I have had samples go missing at a party and I dont mean a few! So now I keep all the samples in a little box and have a sample board so people can pick one and I will get it for them, it looks like this,
Pretty cool huh? So, any questions?
